Having seen positive reviews on Trip Advisor, and this spa only being around the corner from our villa, I thought I'd give it a try.With a morning booking I was told I'd get a 10% discount and also 10% off the bill of the excellent Salt restaurant if we dined there. On arriving, I was taken to the terrace of the hotel and shown to a pleasant air conditioned seating area. Here I was given a chilled glass of lime juice and a cool towel.... both very welcome given the outside heat.
The questionnaire provided asked if there were any medical conditions the masseur should be aware of, whether there were areas that I'd prefer not to be massaged and what intensity of massage I wanted.... a great start.
Having opted for a 90 minute full body ayurveda massage with hot pads, I was taken into the treatment room by my charming young lady masseur.
The session began by my masseur gently washing my feet in a bath of scented water. Lovely.
Being presented with disposable massage shorts, my masseur left the room while a changed... leaving a bell to ring when I was ready.
The room had all of the classic pleasant touches, soft relaxing music, a delicious gentle aroma and everything meticulously clean.
The massage itself was superb. My masseur started with relaxing strokes progressing steadily to deep tissue massage as I'd requested. She intuitively knew when her massage was just getting close to my limit of pressure.... never once did I need to make a sound... she just stopped at exactly the right point.
Every area of my body was massaged with the same skill and sensitivity, leaving me totally relaxed but also invigorated.
This is one of the best massages I've ever had. There are cheaper places in Negombo but a) as with all things, you get what you pay for and b) at a UK equivalent of £30 (£25 after deducting the discount from our meal that evening) it was a bargain... and certainly worth every penny.
I would unconditionally recommend this for a delicious and skilful massage.
